Who we are

A different kind
of charity.

The Chowthee Foundation builds technology that reaches people aid organisations cannot. Where charity delivers short-term relief, TCF delivers tools designed to keep working long after the intervention ends.

Mission and vision.

Mission
A non-profit building tech-driven solutions to create a world where everyone has the tools to thrive.
Vision
A just and equitable world where technology and community combine to give every person the opportunity to build a better life, regardless of circumstance. We believe in building systems that empower, not just aid.

Good intentions alone do not feed families.

$1 in every $3 donated to broad aid programs never reaches its intended recipients. Clinics are too far away. Waste piles up instead of creating jobs. Well-meaning organisations deliver temporary fixes to permanent problems.

Without targeted support, the cycle of poverty is perpetuated, curable health issues go untreated, and recyclable material ends up in landfills.

The Chowthee Foundation was built to answer one question: what does it look like when technology solves problems instead of just describing them?

The founder
Reetash Chowthee
MBA · Auckland, New Zealand
30+ years in commercial business

I spent 35 years in commercial business. I know how to build systems that scale. I chose to point those skills at the people who needed them most.

Reetash Chowthee is an Auckland-based MBA with a 30-year career spanning FMCG, SaaS, and digital marketing across Africa and New Zealand. Award-winning in-market experience in South Africa, including category performance against Marico and Unilever. Business Mentor NZ volunteer since 2005. Co-founder of BioNEX AI. Launched Vital Modo in August 2024. The Foundation is not built by a career philanthropist — it is built by a seasoned operator who chose to turn commercial skills toward systemic social impact.

Three principles.
Non-negotiable.

01
Technology over temporary fixes
Every programme TCF runs is designed to work without ongoing donor intervention. We build tools, not dependency. A Vital Modo session happens whether or not a donor renews. A green micro-centre stays open because it pays for itself.
02
Household-level precision
We operate at the household level, not the postcode level. Broad programmes miss the people who need them most. Our poverty audit technology identifies families in crisis individually — support reaches the right door, not a general area.
03
Accountable to our supporters
Every dollar tracked. Every outcome verified. Founding supporters receive regular updates on specific milestones — session counts, jobs created, families stabilised. You are a building partner, not a donor who gives and hopes.
